A RESOLUTION TO COMMEND ANTHONY T. FARESE, FORMER CHANCELLOR OF THE 18TH CHANCERY COURT DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, Anthony T. Farese was the Chancellor of the 18th Chancery Court District, serving Benton, Tippah, Marshall, Lafayette and Calhoun Counties, from September 1, 1979, to January 2, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Farese was a partner in the Ashland, Mississippi, law firm of Farese and Farese, P.A., Attorneys at Law, from September 1956 to August 31, 1979; and
WHEREAS, he served as Benton County Prosecuting Attorney from January 1960 to January 1972; and
WHEREAS, a native of Lynn, Massachusetts, he attended Classical High School in Lynn, Massachusetts, Northwest Mississippi Junior College in Senatobia, and the University of Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, his military service was with the United States Army as a paratrooper in the Airborne Infantry from January 1951 to January 1953; and
WHEREAS, a Southern Baptist who is a member of the Ashland Baptist Church, he was married to Margie C. Roach on October 3, 1959; they are the parents of three children, Anthony L., Tammy and Allison, and three grandchildren, Natalie, Michael and Katherine; and
WHEREAS, his memberships in various organizations have included the American Bar Association, American Judicature Society, Third Circuit Court District Bar Association, Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Rules, the William C. Keady American Inn of Court III, Conference of Chancery Court Judges, service on the Boards of Trustees of Blue Mountain College and North Benton County Health Care, Inc., and the Advisory Board of Cadet Health Care Services; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Legislature to commend this distinguished jurist for an outstanding career in the practice of law and for his many years of dedicated public service on the bench:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MISSISSIPPI STATE SENATE, That we do hereby commend Chancellor Anthony T. Farese, recently retired from service to the 18th Chancery Court District, for his many years of service to the public and the bar of the State of Mississippi in his practice of law, years as a prosecutor and service on the bench.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to Chancellor and Mrs. Farese.
